Bitten!

For the past two weeks, I have been attacked by pet fleas. I went to my friend's derma for a consult and I was informed that I had bed bug bites so we were all prescribed to put on scabicide lotion at night but the bites didn't stop. Among everyone in the house, I had the worst reaction to these bites. I went back to the derma and she just prescribed a stronger lotion to put at night and insisted that we still had bed bugs even if I had my mattresses professionally cleaned with UV rays to kill these bugs.
The next day, my husband told me to go and see another dermatologist since my bites were getting worse and they were all over my things and legs plus arms. I asked my OB and Pedia to recommend someone and they told me to get in touch with Dra. Marie Eleanor Nicolas in Asian Hospital. Thank goodness I went to her. She told me that I did not have bed bug bites and that my bites were from pet fleas. I told her we had no pets but that our neighbors have dogs and sometimes I hear stray cats pass by our place.
She told me that I had to spray baygon then vacuum the whole house. She said that I had to get rid of them first so that I'd have no more new bites. She gave me an anti-inflammatory for my legs as well. I did as I was told but took it a notch higher by hiring professional exterminators just to make sure that we get all of them. My whole household has been so tired with general cleaning afterwards but so far so good. No new bites and my old ones have subsided already.
The sad part is the bites have darkened on my skin so I am not at all summer ready but what can you do right? I'll be going back to Dra. Nicolas this week to get something to lighten the dark spots.
Lesson learned: Monthly maintenance for exterminating pests must be done especially when you live in a neighborhood full of pets. Another thing, dermatologists in hospitals/clinics are a much better and safer choice!
